Whether you are adventuring to alpine lakes or strolling along a rocky shore, supportive and dependable footwear like hiking boots can either make or break the experience. As many new hikers do, I started off hiking in sneakers during high school. While that’s fine for a short mile or two, additional miles on tough terrain will cause your poorly supported feet to ache. Or, your feet can be vulnerable to injury from trail hazards like rocks. Besides this, sneakers tend to wear down quickly on trails since they weren’t designed for all-terrain.
